Beyond the Struttosphere

Beyond The Struttosphere is a sonic collaboration between two DJs channelling their considerable musical production experience and boundless love of cosmic chugging dark disco. Their debut EP ‘New Frontier’ was released on Discolypso in 2020 and found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity, also appearing on Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series. This propelled the duo to new heights, leading to lauded releases on esteemed labels including Mélopée Records, Discolypso, In Dark We Trust and Emerald & Doreen, and DJ gigs at Glastonbury’s Rabbit Hole and Berlin’s infamous KitKat Club among others. Their music is now making sonic reverberations around the globe, hitting the dancefloors of Burning Man, House of Yes NYC, ADE and Sisyphos Berlin, and notching up remixes from legends of the scene including Shubostar, Rebolledo, Rigopolar, Badknife, James Rod and Mufti. The cosmonauts are often immersed in the studio, their trademark sound combining chugging basslines with live guitar, syncopated arpeggiators, cosmic synths, vintage vocal samples, Italo drum fills and psychedelic 303 sequences.
