The Fabularium returns to Wilderness for 2026! Join the hapless but noble knight Don Quixote and his long-suffering, fortune-seeking sidekick, Sancha Panza, on their epic quest to revive chivalry, confront monsters and seek to right what is wrong or accidentally wrong what is right!

'There Be Monsters!’ is the fantastic outdoor heroic romp-around from acclaimed outdoor performers The Fabularium. As you meet these two iconic characters, you are invited on an adventure not to be missed.

This will be a journey like no other, with live original music and catchy songs delivering a fun yet thought-provoking family theatre experience.

Created in 2010, The Fabularium was set up as a piece of action research intended to enhance skills in performance and support the development of Postgraduates in association with Coventry University, by devising and performing stories depicted through various mediums from acrobatic and circus skills to mask and puppetry, live music and storytelling.

The Fabularium tour their work nationally and internationally, outdoors and indoors, to a variety of festivals, events, theatres, and rural touring venues. Their work ranges from midscale vibrant cart shows to energetic walkabout animations, bringing a burst of vitality to any outdoor space.
Key collaborators with Coventry University, The Fabularium work together with graduates and students to teach them adaptable skills used for working in the Outdoor Arts Sector and provide freelance working opportunities.

Important Info

  • 13+ must book a ticket, children 12 and under go free. Under 12’s to be accompanied by ticket holding adult. All ages welcome.
  • For all sessions, meet no later than 15 minutes before the session start time at the Wilderness Meeting Point where you'll then be guided into the woods.
  • There is a short journey to the theatre in the woods, approx 15 minutes from the arena via a grass path which may not be suitable for all wheelchair types, particularly in wet weather.

Please note - you must have a valid festival ticket to book an experience at Wilderness.

Refunds & Exchanges

  • Please note extra experience bookings are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
  • Experiences will only be held for 20 minutes, after that tickets are subject to resale and will be automatically cancelled without refund.

Outdoor Experiences

  • Outdoor experiences will take place come rain or shine.
  • For any outdoor experiences outside of the arena, unless specified otherwise on the individual booking page, please meet 15 minutes before the designated start time at the Wilderness Meeting Point where you will be met and guided to your experience.
